Spain and Portugal are launching an official campaign for the 2030 World Cup.FIFA plans to elect a 2030 World Cup winner in 2024.

Spain and Portugal have announced they will host a 2030 World Cup official on Friday at a small symbolic event at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, ahead of the Euro 2020 struggle between the two countries.

"The governments of Spain and Portugal wish to express their desire and commitment to host the 2030 World Cup," said a request for funding from Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The two leaders signed an agreement in front of Spanish King Felipe VI and Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at the Atletico Madrid stadium just before the start of the match.

Friday's match also marked the centenary of Portugal's first international match, a 3-1 defeat by Spain in Madrid in December 1921.

Both teams stood in the stands wearing T-shirts marked "Vamos2030".

"Today we are signing the commitment of both parties to work together at the World Cup," said the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Fernando Gomes.

Gomes and his Spanish counterpart, Luis Rubiales, were confirming an agreement signed last October to promote the 2030 World Cup bid.

"The message to national organizations: if you give us your hope, when you come to our countries you will have an unforgettable experience," Rubiales said on Friday.

Sapin and Portugal are likely to face competition from other joint ventures discussed: one from the United Kingdom and Ireland and the other from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile, aimed at coinciding with the centenary of the first World Cup, played in Uruguay.

There is a lot of prominence around hosting the tournament, with a global focus on the process, and it is believed that it can give countries a welcome boost to tourism.

FIFA has confirmed that the United States, Mexico and Canada will host the 2026 tournament back in 2018, and it is common for a decision to be taken about ten years in advance to allow sufficient time for appropriate action to be taken in terms of infrastructure.

There are many bids currently being prepared for the 2030 World Cup, so Goal brings you everything you need to know about which countries are working and more.

The number of bids for the 2030 World Cup has been confirmed, and some potential bids are still being considered by other countries.

Bids are guaranteed

South America Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay have joined forces as they try to convince FIFA to approve the 'Southern Cone' World Cup.

The first intention of the application was made public before the match between Argentina and Uruguay in 2017, in which Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi wore jerseys for the 2030 season. It was also confirmed in 2019 that Paraguay and Chile will join the program.

One of the highlights of the South American international coup was the return of the World Cup in Uruguay on the occasion of the centenary of the first tournament held there in 1930.

While Argentina (1978), Uruguay (1930) and Chile (1962) have already hosted the tournament in the past, it would be the first time it has been held in Paraguay.

Spain and Portugal have joined forces to fight for rights and have ratified their agreement in 2020. Spain last hosted the tournament in 1982, and it has never been held in Portugal.

"Few things are more exciting than the opportunity to prepare for the World Cup and we can't think of a better partner than Portugal," said Spanish Football Association (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales. "We are aligned with the Portuguese Federation."

Europe's second bid was made by Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Serbia - all four countries enjoying the prospect of bringing the tournament to their country for the first time. Their application was confirmed in 2019.

With the possibility of the World Cup returning to Africa by 2030, Morocco has confirmed its intention to compete in the tournament. The North African country, which covers the Mediterranean, has missed out on the rights to host the 2026 tournament, but has not given up on launching a new application.

Surprisingly, it will be Morocco's sixth bid for World Cup hosting rights, having failed in the 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026 versions. There have been suggestions that Morocco could turn it into a bid to join, with Portugal and Spain, as well as Algeria and Tunisia nominated as co-hosts.

Bids may be available

Football can finally ‘return home’ by 2030 if a joint bid involving the United Kingdom and Ireland goes down. Four British organizations - England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales - are collaborating with the Republic of Ireland to explore the possibility of bids and resources being made by various related governments.

"Football associations and their partner governments in the UK and Ireland are very pleased that the UK government is committed to supporting the five-nation FIFA 2030 World Cup," said a joint statement in March 2021. " bid performance before FIFA officially opened the process in 2022.

"Holding the FIFA World Cup will provide a wonderful opportunity to bring tangible benefits to our nations. If no decision is made to bid for this event, we look forward to presenting our proposals for participation in FIFA and the international football community."

England had previously hosted the 1966 World Cup, winning the event, but were unsuccessful in the following bids.

According to some bids, Egypt has expressed a desire to bid for the 2030 World Cup (as well as the 2032 Olympics), but it has been suggested that Egyptian football authorities look at their strength in bidding for the 2034 World Cup instead.

Football statistics in Cameroon have also expressed interest and the country will have the opportunity to demonstrate its ability to host a major tournament when it enters the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

There may be a second South American request if Ecuador, Colombia and Peru are able to take their interests seriously.

How does the bidding process for the 2030 World Cup work and who decides?

The bidding process will officially begin in the first half of 2022 and the host country (or nations) will be officially announced at the 74th FIFA Conference in 2024 - six years before the tournament.

Once the bids are officially registered with FIFA, the land governing body then conducts a thorough assessment of the suitability and suitability of the proposed homeowner.

The nominees were elected by a vote of the FIFA Council, consisting of members from AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC and UEFA, as well as the FIFA president.

Often, host countries request the support of influential people to act as ambassadors for their applications, and sports and political people are often recruited to do so.
